The Deep Cleaning Checklist We Use in Connecticut Homes

March 12, 2026 MARTS-R.P Cleaning Solutions

Deep cleaning a whole house feels impossible mostly because people attack it randomly. The trick is order: work top to bottom, room by room, and finish each room before moving on. Here is the checklist our team actually uses in homes around Bristol, Southington, Farmington, and the rest of central Connecticut.

Start in the kitchen, because it takes the longest. Clear the counters completely, then work the inside of the oven, the inside of the fridge, the microwave, and the exterior of every small appliance. Degrease the stovetop and range hood, wipe cabinet fronts, scrub the sink and faucet, and save the floor for last. The two spots people almost always miss: the crumb tray under the toaster and the rubber seal around the fridge door.

Bathrooms come next. Pre-treat tile grout and shower glass and let the product sit while you work on something else — that soak time does most of the labor for you. Then move through the toilet, tub or shower, sink, mirrors, and fixtures, and finish with the floor. If your grout still looks gray after a proper scrub, it is usually stained rather than dirty, and that is worth knowing before you spend another Saturday on it.

Bedrooms and living areas are mostly a dust problem, and dust falls. So go high first: ceiling fans, light fixtures, and the tops of door frames and window trim. Then blinds, baseboards, light switches, remotes, and any other high-touch surface. Strip and remake the beds, vacuum the mattresses, and only then vacuum and mop the floors.

One honest note about scope: a real deep clean on an average three-bedroom house is a multi-hour job, not an afternoon. If you would rather have it done for you, call MARTS-R.P Cleaning Solutions at (959) 217-3194 for a free deep cleaning estimate anywhere in our service area.
